Meet Miah

Miah Bell is a criminal defense attorney born and raised in North Texas. Born in Dallas and raised in McKinney, Miah developed an interest in the criminal justice system early in her academic career. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from the University of North Texas, graduating Magna Cum Laude. While at UNT, she founded the Criminal Justice Student Association and served as its President, creating a community for students who shared her passion for the field while developing her own leadership and advocacy skills. Miah’s interest in criminal defense continued to grow as she interned with the Denton County District Attorney’s Office, where she gained firsthand insight into how criminal cases are evaluated and prosecuted. Experiencing the criminal justice system from the prosecution’s perspective gave her valuable insight into the other side of the law and ultimately reinforced her desire to advocate for those accused of crimes.

While attending the University of North Texas at Dallas College of Law, Miah continued to pursue opportunities that aligned with her passion for advocacy and criminal defense. She worked with the Joyce Ann Brown Innocence Clinic, where she advocated on behalf of individuals who had been wrongfully convicted. Her work with the Innocence Clinic gave her a deeper appreciation for the life-changing consequences of a criminal accusation and strengthened her belief in the importance of thorough investigation, careful advocacy, and ensuring that every person receives a meaningful defense. During law school, Miah was also a member of the Women in Law Society, where she continued to develop her professional and leadership skills.

Miah believes that effective criminal defense begins with understanding the person behind the case. She approaches each client with compassion, attention to detail, and a commitment to making sure their side of the story is heard. Her experiences on both sides of the criminal justice system have given her a unique perspective that she brings to her work defending clients and protecting their rights.

Outside of the office, Miah enjoys spending time with her dogs, Bella and Nova, getting lost in a good book, and watching the latest true crime documentary.
