Booking and bond in McKinney
Arrests are booked at the Collin County Detention Facility at 4300 Community Avenue in McKinney; a city arrest may sit at the Allen, Plano, or Frisco jail first. A magistrate sets bond and conditions, usually within 48 hours.

Plano
Plano is the largest city in Collin County, and a Plano Police arrest for assault, drug possession, theft, or a weapons charge is not heard in Plano. The municipal court there handles only Class C tickets; every Class B misdemeanor and above is filed with the Collin County District Attorney and heard in McKinney. The Allen office is eighteen minutes up US-75 from the Legacy and downtown Plano corridors.
McKinney Criminal Defense Lawyer
McKinney is the county seat, so a McKinney Police or Collin County Sheriff’s arrest is booked, magistrated, and tried within a few miles of where it happened. The Collin County Detention Facility at 4300 Community Avenue and the Steindam Courts Building at 2100 Bloomdale Road are minutes apart, which means a McKinney case moves quickly in its first days, and the decisions about bond conditions and preserving video have to move with it. Frisco

Prosper
Prosper also sits on the county line along the US-380 and Preston Road corridor. A Prosper Police arrest on the Collin side is a McKinney case; an arrest west of the line goes to Denton County.
Celina
Celina is growing fast along the Preston Road and Dallas Parkway corridor, worked by Celina Police and DPS. Like Prosper it crosses into Denton County, so the arrest location decides the courthouse.
Melissa
Melissa lies entirely within Collin County, just north of McKinney on US-75 and SH-121, so a Melissa Police or DPS arrest is always a McKinney case, and one of the shortest drives to the courthouse in the county.
Wylie
Wylie anchors the east side of the county on SH-78 near Lake Lavon. The city limits reach into Dallas and Rockwall counties, but a Wylie Police arrest inside Collin County is filed in McKinney, about twenty minutes from our Allen office.
