Deandra Grant Awarded NSDAR Women in American History Award
A recognition from the Daughters of the American Revolution presented during the chapter’s America 250! Community Awards Banquet.

The Preston Trail Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution has selected Deandra Grant to receive its Women in American History Award. The award will be presented at the chapter’s America 250! Community Awards Banquet on May 7, 2026.
The Women in American History Award recognizes women whose contributions (intellectual, educational, social, religious, political, scientific, or cultural) have made a meaningful difference in their communities. The awards banquet is part of the chapter’s America 250! programming, marking the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States. The DAR has spent more than a century preserving the memory of the patriots who made that founding possible and supporting historic preservation, education, and patriotism in communities across the country. To be welcomed, even briefly, into that tradition is a true honor.
From Deandra:
For me, this award is also a moment for reflection. Three decades into my legal career, I think often about the women who came before me in this profession: the ones who insisted on a seat at counsel table when there wasn’t one for them, who built scientific credentials in disciplines that didn’t expect to see them, and who refused to let “first” be a ceiling instead of a starting line. Whatever I have been able to contribute as a lawyer, an author, a forensic scientist, and an educator stands on their shoulders. My sincere thanks to the Preston Trail Chapter for this generous recognition, and to the clients, colleagues, students, and family who have made any of it possible.
Which county your case is filed in changes how it is charged, who prosecutes it, and which court hears it.
