property from an individual, knowing that the property does not belong
to them or that it was stolen, then you could be arrested and charged
with a criminal offense.

Penalties for Theft in Collin County
If you are charged with a theft offense for which the value of the alleged
stolen property is less than $50 or $20 by check, then you will face a
Class C misdemeanor charge and a fee of up to $500 if you are convicted.
If the value of the items is $200,000 or more, then you will face a first-degree
felony charge and up to 99 years in prison in addition to a fine of no
more than $10,000.
