⏰  DWI ARREST IN HOOD COUNTY? THE 15-DAY ALR DEADLINE IS RUNNING.

You have 15 days from the date of your notice of suspension to request an ALR hearing or your license is automatically suspended, regardless of what happens in the criminal case.

      Lawyers in Granbury, TX

Hood County is a small but active jurisdiction. If you have been arrested for DWI or a criminal offense in Granbury or anywhere in Hood County, your case will be heard at the Hood County Courthouse, 100 E Pearl St, Granbury, TX 76048. If you have been injured in a car accident, truck accident, or other incident in the area, the same courthouse handles civil proceedings.

Deandra Grant Law does not have a Granbury office, but we appear in Hood County courts regularly out of our Fort Worth office at 4500 Airport Freeway, Suite 101. Managing Partner Deandra Grant has more than 30 years of criminal and DWI defense experience across North and Central Texas, including Hood County. She holds a Master’s Degree in Pharmaceutical Science and the ACS-CHAL Forensic Lawyer-Scientist designation. Partner Douglas Huff holds the same designation.

      DWI Defense in Hood County

DWI arrests in Hood County come from the Granbury Police Department, the Hood County Sheriff’s Office, and DPS troopers. All cases are prosecuted by the Hood County District Attorney’s Office and heard at the Hood County Courthouse on E Pearl Street.

Blood draw analysis.  Blood draws in Hood County DWI cases are typically sent to Texas DPS crime labs for analysis. The DPS lab’s methodology, analyst qualifications, calibration records, chain of custody documentation, and preservative protocols are all subject to forensic examination. A result from a DPS lab is a measurement produced by a process and every step of that process can be evaluated for error.

The ALR hearing  (the administrative license revocation proceeding that runs parallel to the criminal case) must be requested within 15 days of notice of suspension. Missing that deadline means an automatic suspension regardless of the criminal outcome. The ALR hearing is also a strategic asset: sworn testimony from the arresting officer taken at the ALR creates a record that can be used in the criminal case.

      What the Defense Examines

Every Hood County DWI defense begins with the same questions: Was there reasonable suspicion for the stop? Under Article 38.23 , evidence from an unlawful stop is suppressible. Texas has no good faith exception. Were the field sobriety tests  administered correctly? Does the blood result  accurately reflect the BAC at the time of driving, or was alcohol still absorbing? The rising BAC defense requires pharmacokinetic analysis which is the kind that a Master’s Degree in Pharmaceutical Science makes possible..

      Criminal Defense in Hood County

Hood County criminal cases (assault, family violence, drug offenses, theft, gun crimes, and more serious felonies) are prosecuted by the Hood County DA’s office and heard at 100 E Pearl Street. The defense approach is the same as in any Texas jurisdiction: the constitutional analysis comes first, the forensic evidence second.

Under Texas Code of Criminal Procedure Article 38.23 , evidence obtained through an unlawful stop, defective warrant, or constitutionally defective search is suppressible with no good faith exception. Every case begins with that analysis before any other defense strategy is built.

We handle the full range of criminal charges in Hood County including assault and family violence, drug possession and delivery, theft and robbery, gun crimes, sex offenses, probation violations, and warrants.
