      Frisco DWI Lawyers

A DWI arrest in Frisco is the beginning of two simultaneous legal proceedings: a criminal case that can result in jail time, fines, and a permanent criminal record, and an administrative case through the Texas Department of Public Safety that can suspend your driver’s license within days. Frisco’s entertainment districts — including The Star, Stonebriar Centre, and the growing restaurant corridor along Lebanon Road and Main Street — are active DWI enforcement areas. The Frisco Police Department conducts regular DWI patrols, and the city’s proximity to multiple major highways means that DWI stops frequently occur on the Dallas North Tollway, Highway 121, and Preston Road.

At Deandra Grant Law, DWI defense is where our firm was built. Since 1994, lead attorney Deandra Grant has defended thousands of DWI cases across North Texas. Our attorneys hold ACS-CHAL Forensic Lawyer-Scientist designations which is advanced forensic science training that allows us to challenge the prosecution’s evidence at a scientific level, not just at the procedural level.

In addition, Deandra Grant literally “wrote the book” on DWI defense in Texas: The Texas DWI Manual

Why the Science Behind Your DWI Matters

Most DWI defense attorneys challenge DWI cases by arguing that the officer didn’t follow proper procedures, i.e the traffic stop was illegal, the field sobriety tests were administered incorrectly, or the breath test machine wasn’t calibrated. These are valid challenges, and we raise them when they apply.

But our forensic training allows us to go deeper. We challenge the science itself:

      • Blood testing: We understand the gas chromatography with flame ionization detection (GC-FID) methodology used to analyze blood samples, including sources of error such as coelution, contamination, in vitro fermentation by Candida albicans, and improper blood draw procedures
      • Breath testing: We challenge breath test results based on partition ratio variability, mouth alcohol contamination, medical conditions like GERD and diabetes that produce false positives, and the specific limitations of the Intoxilyzer 9000
      • Field sobriety tests: We challenge the administration, scoring, and interpretation of Standardized Field Sobriety Tests based on the NHTSA protocols and the scientific literature on their reliability
      • Retrograde extrapolation: When the prosecution tries to calculate what your BAC was at the time of driving based on a test taken later, we challenge the scientific validity of their math

      The 15-Day ALR Deadline

Critical: If you were arrested for DWI in Frisco, you have only 15 days from the date you were served notice of suspension to request a hearing to challenge the automatic suspension of your driver’s license. If you miss this deadline, your license will be suspended automatically. Contact us immediately so we can file this request and protect your driving privileges while your case is pending.

      Collin County DWI Courts

      Garrett Discovery Digital Forensics Training

Attorney Douglas Huff has completed advanced digital forensics training with Garrett Discovery, one of the nation’s leading forensic firms. This training is directly applicable to DWI cases that involve cell phone GPS data, dash camera footage, body camera video, and other digital evidence.
