⚠️  DUAL-COUNTY NOTE: Grand Prairie straddles Dallas and Tarrant counties. The arresting agency and location of the offense determine which courthouse applies. Both are addressed below.

      ⏰  15-DAY ALR DEADLINE

Arrested for DWI in Cedar Hill? You have 15 days from the date you are served with notice of suspension to request an ALR hearing or your license is automatically suspended, regardless of the criminal outcome.

Grand Prairie DWI and Criminal Defense Lawyers

Grand Prairie is one of the largest cities in the DFW Metroplex, with approximately 200,000 residents spread across both Dallas and Tarrant counties. The Grand Prairie Police Department enforces DWI and criminal laws along I-30, SH-360, I-20, Arkansas Lane, and the entertainment corridors near AT&T Stadium, Epic Waters, and Lone Star Park. Whether your case is heard in Dallas County or Tarrant County depends on where in Grand Prairie the offense occurred.

Dallas County cases: Dallas office at 3300 Oak Lawn, Ste 700 which is minutes from the Frank Crowley Courts Building, 133 N. Riverfront Blvd., Dallas, TX 75207.

Tarrant County cases: Fort Worth office at 4500 Airport Freeway, Suite 101 which is 15 minutes from the Tim Curry Criminal Justice Center, 401 W. Belknap Street, Fort Worth, TX 76196.

Managing Partner Deandra Grant holds a Master’s Degree in Pharmaceutical Science, a Graduate Certificate in Forensic Toxicology, and the ACS-CHAL Forensic Lawyer-Scientist designation. Partner Douglas Huff holds the same ACS-CHAL designation and has completed advanced digital forensics training. For federal matters in the Northern District of Texas, Of Counsel James Lee Bright brings more than 25 years of federal trial experience.

Why the Science Behind Your Case Matters

Most defense attorneys challenge DWI and criminal evidence through legal argument. Deandra Grant Law challenges it through the science.

      • Blood testing: DPS Crime Lab in Garland for most Dallas County outlying agency arrests. GC-FID methodology, in vitro fermentation, sodium fluoride adequacy, chain of custody, analyst qualifications
      • Drug cases: DPS Austin, Armstrong Forensic Laboratory, or NMS for drug analysis. Presence is not impairment.
      • Breath testing: Intoxilyzer 9000. Partition ratio variability (1,100:1 to 3,400:1), 15-minute observation period compliance, calibration records, mouth alcohol, GERD/diabetes effects.
      • Field sobriety tests: Deandra Grant is a trained SFST instructor who administers and grades the ACS-CHAL Forensic Lawyer-Scientist and DUIDLA Board Certification exams. SFST cross-examination goes to the protocol, not just the result.
      • Digital evidence: Cell phone data, social media, CDR records, surveillance footage
      • Retrograde extrapolation: Rising BAC defense, Widmark formula, individual elimination rate variability

      Courts, Prosecution, and Enforcement

Dallas County cases: Frank Crowley Courts Building, 133 N. Riverfront Blvd., Dallas, TX 75207. Prosecuted by the Dallas County DA’s office.

Tarrant County cases: Tim Curry Criminal Justice Center, 401 W. Belknap Street, Fort Worth, TX 76196. Prosecuted by Phil Sorrells’ office — 300+ prosecutors, 31,000+ pending cases.

Federal cases: Both Dallas and Tarrant counties are in the Northern District of Texas. Attorney James Lee Bright handles federal defense in the Northern District.

      Criminal Defense in Grand Prairie

Every Grand Prairie criminal defense begins with Texas Code of Criminal Procedure Article 38.23 which is the exclusionary rule with no good faith exception. Whether the case is heard in Dallas County or Tarrant County, the constitutional analysis of the stop and search comes first. DGL has offices and regular appearances in both courthouses.

We handle the full range of criminal charges arising from Grand Prairie:

      • Assault and family violence — including the permanent consequences of the family violence affirmative finding
      • Drug possession and delivery — DPS Garland lab analysis challenged at the chemistry level
      • Theft, robbery, fraud, and white-collar offenses
      • Gun crimes — UCW, felon in possession, federal firearms charges
      • Sex offenses — forensic evidence and digital evidence examined independently
      • Murder and homicide — through capital murder
      • Federal criminal defense — Northern District of Texas, handled by James Lee Bright
